Great news! The High School Building is fully built, functional, and currently being used by many students, even as we navigate the current COVID restrictions! The journey to get to this point has been one of deep trust and obedience to God. We are so grateful for your partnership in it. As we move forward in the project, it is with great joy that we announce it has been fully financed! Because of the hard work of many, and your continued generosity, we are able to praise God for the completion of this project!
If you would like to continue to give to this project, all payments will be applied to paying down the loan we have through Pioneer Trust Bank. If you would like to designate your funds to a different project, please call our office, as we would be more than happy to assist you with that.
The final touches are being put together on our new high school building. We’ve got chairs, desks, and tables being fervently assembled as you read this, all in the hopes of getting our high school students into them the first week of the winter semester.
If you’ve followed this blog, given to the project, or prayed for us during the campaign, we'd love to invite you to our ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 5th at 1pm. We will have snacks and drinks, and we celebrate all that we have accomplished together with a time of reflection and worship.
Thank you for your continued support for our Building Deep and Wide project - we couldn’t have done this without you!

As the sun begins to set on our high school building project, we reflect on how far we’ve come these last few months. Internally, the new building now has indoor lighting installed as well as the elevator. Externally, we’ve got concrete stairs and pathways poured and landscaping in the works. We are so thankful for the continued support as we see this project through to the end. Only a few weeks left until the building is done, and we have a ribbon cutting!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord in Jeremiah 29:11. Isn't it amazing to see plans come to fruition? This week we've continued pouring the concrete pathway to the Eagle Building. It is a long and complicated process to lay the correct groundwork, and even more difficult to keep school-aged children out of the wet mixture. The good news is that the concrete should be done next week! (depending on the weather, of course…)
You can’t see it from this view, but the Eagle Building is currently having a new elevator installed! What can be enjoyed from this view though, is the continuation of the siding going up, and the cohesion of this new building to our campus. We are continually thankful for God’s grace and provision in this project.
What a difference new siding makes! The neutral colors match well with our existing buildings and blend in beautifully with the Oregon landscape. With a little over 6 months to go until the ribbon-cutting, the dream of the Eagle Building is becoming a full-fledged reality. Thank you to those who have supported the project so far -– we are close to reaching our goal!
The outdoor covered area of the Eagle Building has come to fruition. The new wood beams tower over an asphalt surface, joining together with the current play equipment. This structure will provide much-needed shelter during rainy months.
It’s really looking like a building now! As you can see by the photos, the roof is almost finished, the windows are in, the siding is going on, and the pace is picking up. On the inside of the building we have the rough plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems going in. Our rep from Duncan Construction tells us we are right on schedule with our construction timeline.
Earlier this month we had our Celebrate Crosshill event and our guests took a tour inside the building! It was inspirational to walk through and see the new classroom sizes, offices and locker rooms that just a few months ago were only an idea on paper.

Roofing has begun and windows are already going in – all in time for a walk-through of the building at our upcoming Celebrate Crosshill event!
It was a pretty incredible sight today to see such a massive crane lowering the trusses into place! The Eagle Building is really starting to take shape! Video stills courtesy of Ean Perkins.
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.” This past week, construction crews added stairs to the Eagle Building project! This has been a labor of faith as we seek to build the Kingdom through this new school building. There is still a bit left of the financial need to keep the construction moving forward, so please continue to keep this construction project in your prayers.
We’re beginning to reach new heights now that the beams are reaching up to the second story! Construction crews continue to be hard at work, and the continued vertical progress continues to build an encouraging momentum.
Now that the foundation has been poured, the construction crews are hard at work raising the frame for the Eagle Building. In the coming days we can look forward to seeing a blank canvas of concrete turn into the bones of a school. God is using us to build a high school, but just like each one of those beams, we have all played a part in building the kingdom. “For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” (1 Corinthians 3:9)
The weather really took a turn in the past couple of weeks, but that hasn't stopped our team from preparing the work for the foundation to be poured. Also, at this point, we only need to raise another $566k for this project to be fully-funded! These are exciting times!
This is what building the foundation for future generations looks like! Even with the stormy weather this week, we’ve continued developing the groundwork for our Eagle Building. If you look closely, you can see the beginnings of the pipe work being laid in the ground!
With the addition of a $3 million dollar loan from Pioneer Trust Bank, we have begun work on preparing the ground for our new high school building! Oh, we also happened to spot our lead pastor at the bottom of this future elevator shaft…
A generous donor is providing $100,000 in matching funds to double any gift given toward the Building Deep+Wide capital campaign during the month of June. Will you join us to maximize this opportunity of raising $200,000 over 30 days? Your tax-deductive giving allows the school to continue to grow its programs, facilities, and resources without large tuition increases.

On the portable move, we have been working hard on installing the fire lane around the gym, as well as starting on some utility work by digging in the power, sewer, LV, and water to their new location. The next steps are to move the portable during Spring Break and install new septic and fire tanks. I’m sure that everyone is going to be tired of backup beepers and heavy equipment by the time summer comes around, but our #1 goal is to do this safely, so we will be doing some specific scheduling while it all takes place.
Exciting news! The Link is now open for all to journey through! It's not at 100% quite yet, as we still need to get some furniture, open up the office, and get some TVs installed, but at least it's already being put to good use!
Everything is really starting to come together, including an early accessibility to walk through the Link during service! It shouldn't be long before we're ready to launch our Open House in December.
A brand new sidewalk has been poured and, let’s face it... it has been a long time coming – but thankfully the days of unruly surfaces have come to an end! If you look far off in the distance you’ll note a large cement square lifted from the ground… rumor has it we’ll have some kind of tree placed there to help make the entrance all the more beautiful.
An early look at the beautiful new interior of the Link, featuring a spacious open area, gorgeous ceiling, and wrap-around office area. This solution for connecting our Sanctuary to our main building is really coming along – we can't wait to see what this looks like when all of the many glass windows are in place!
The new roof across the entire building really looks sharp, and the front doors of the Link are beginning to take form.
The framing is now complete minus a few small details, and the roofers began the rigid insulation on the Link while the comp roof went on behind them. This past week all pick-up work and soffits were completed, and next week the trades will begin their rough-in work as we prepare for drywall to start. With all these trades and roofers around here, it will be a busy site…
The first couple weeks of school have been a success! Thank you to everyone for your efforts to keep students and staff safe – the barricades and walkway are working well and traffic flow is nice and smooth. There are a couple of weeks left before squeeze down the size of our construction footprint and open up most of the parking lot. We continued to complete the firewall between the Link and the sanctuary and began again with the truss system.
We decided to demo the entire roof now (as opposed to splitting it up into phases) as it seemed best for the safety of the students later on down the road. By Friday it will be dry and ready for roofing, which will begin in approximately two weeks. We also began the heavy timber trusses. It is pretty neat seeing them in the air. In other news, we painted all of the school walls and doors in the hallways. It was a close call, but we were able to accomplish everything for tonight’s open house. It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to a place...
This week we poured our slabs and have our foundation down. We have completed the framing in the basement and will set the door frames and begin sheetrock on the classroom side of the new walls. This will give a finished side for classes to begin!
A lot of simultaneous projects are beginning to move forward at once, and we are looking forward to how much will be done with time to spare for the staff to return. We made two more concrete pours this week, set the steel columns, and should have trusses started next week.
Regarding the interior, most of the framing is completed and the staircase is in! We also began putting together the education side’s electrical, completed the sheetrock in the staff bathroom, and will be texturing and finishing it all next week. In other news: we all survived the 106° heat wave the week...
This week we finished up the demolition, framed the bathroom, and both formed and poured the footings. You may also notice how the siding has been removed along the long Sanctuary wall. Next week we will pour foundation walls and begin to set the steel pillars by doing some drilling. We will also start framing in the new staircase as we fill in the area where the old staircase once came out.
Believe it or not, this open space used to be our main covered entryway. Your eyes might be used to seeing our front doorways leading to a coffee bar in the corner, but we carved out this entire area of South Campus so we can start fresh with the new Link structure. (Don't worry, we held on to all of the stained glass...)
The first stage of the building project, the Link between the South Campus sanctuary and the Fellowship Hall, is underway. Bet you never realized there was a cross hidden up there this whole time, did you? Check back for additional photos and updates as construction progresses.
The entrance of South Campus is fenced off in preparation for construction on the Link. Everything is still up and running like normal though, so don't worry – our services, offices, kids church, and bathrooms are still in full swing. We just had to switch around some of the entrance points.
